To advocate for and build a social enterprise sector that contributes to the social, cultural, environmental, and economic well-being of Nova Scotia.

Community Vitality:Social enterprise fosters strong, active and inclusive relationships between residents, the private sector, public sector and social enterprise organizations.

Education:  Social enterprises enhance literacy and other skill levels among Nova Scotians, particularly among Nova Scotians with barriers to employment.

Healthy Population: Social enterprises enhance the physical, mental and social well-being of Nova Scotians.

Living Standards: Social enterprises result in increased job, food and housing security and a stronger, shared and more forward-looking social safety net.

WHAT IS SOCIAL ENTERPRISE?

A social enterprise is a business or organization operated for the purpose of addressing social, cultural or environmental challenges. The majority of profits and surpluses are reinvested to support community needs.
